The Centre d'Estudis Porcins is an experimental farm that conducts research in the field of the pig farming sector. The main areas are as follows: A) Environmental impact: the center has a fattening area composed of subfloors where environmental impact studies can be conducted. Since this area is highly sensorized (NH3, CO2, ventilation flow, ...), it allows us to accurately calculate the impact generated by livestock activities. B) Feeding and new technologies: the center has a warehouse with feeding machines to monitor the consumption and weight of each individual. It also has an image recording system to study the behavior and welfare of the animals. In this area, nutrition studies are conducted, and new technological components are tested and validated (smart feeders, robots for assessing the health and welfare of animals, ...). C) Slurry treatment area: this area has two slurry tanks and an effluent pond. The purpose of this area is to test and validate new slurry treatment technologies. D) Animal health: currently, a new area with a high level of biosecurity is being constructed. This area will be dedicated to conducting animal health studies.
