The facility is equipped with the Spotmix multiphase feeding system (Schauer Agrotronic, Austria) with 8 microdosators to include additives/nutrients on top to the basal diet, creating a hight flexibility in compare dietary strategies. The feeding system serves all the cages. Weaning unit (7kg-30kg BW) Total of 44 pens: - 36 pens of 6 piglets each (divided in two rooms); - 8 pens of 12 piglets are equipped with automatic feeders Compident PPT Piglet (Schauer Agrotronic, Austria) to measure feeding behaviour and individual feed intake. Growing-finishing unit (30kg-180kg BW) - 10 pens of 12 pigs each. All the boxes are equipped with automatic feeders Compident PPT Pro (Schauer Agrotronic, Austria) to measure feeding behaviour and individual feed intake. - Each room is equipped with Adiabatic cooling system and warming system to set up trial based on heat stress or cold stress Possibility to slaughter the pigs (till 30 kg) to collect biological samples. The facility is connected with the laboratories of the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences and the Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences.
